About Me
With over 30 years of coaching experience, I have built my own successful coaching businesses in both the UK and New Zealand over the past 25 years. My equestrian background includes competing in dressage to Medium level, while coaching riders at higher levels, as well as working alongside international dressage riders and receiving coaching from highly respected professionals.
Earlier in my career, I worked in some of the highly regarded BHS riding schools in Surrey and London. I have also backed, broken in and trained numerous horses, including several of my own, giving me extensive experience in developing both horse and rider.
Who I Coach
I enjoy coaching riders of all levels, from those starting their riding journey through to experienced competitors. I have a particular passion for working with nervous adults returning to riding and riders who want to build their confidence and take the step towards competing.
My Coaching Approach
Confidence and enjoyment come first. Whether a rider is simply looking to enjoy their horse more or has ambitious competitive goals, I believe that building a confident, positive partnership provides the foundation for everything that follows.
I use a logical, rider-led approach, helping both horse and rider progress steadily towards realistic goals. I look at the why behind problems rather than simply treating the symptoms. This might involve looking at the rider's position and biomechanics first, before asking the horse to make changes, creating stronger foundations and clearer communication.
I can help riders to:
* Develop confidence in themselves and their horses
* Build a stronger and more harmonious partnership
* Identify and overcome schooling issues
* Sympathetically correct unwanted habits
* Improve rider position and effectiveness
* Develop the horse's way of going through good foundations
* Set realistic goals and work towards them progressively
* Prepare for competing and develop confidence in a competition environment
What I Enjoy Most About Coaching
For me, the most rewarding part of coaching is seeing the little wins — those moments when something that a horse or rider has struggled with suddenly clicks and becomes fluid and easy.
I am particularly passionate about the mental wellbeing of both horse and rider. Achieving riding goals and developing confidence can have a hugely positive impact beyond the yard and into everyday life.
Supporting Your Progress
Progress starts from day one. I work with riders to establish clear goals and a realistic development plan, providing support and advice between sessions where needed.
I also like using structured learning opportunities, such as Challenge Awards, to give riders clear pathways, milestones and rewards as they develop their skills and confidence.

Coaching Philosophy
My aim is simple: to help horse and rider become a confident, capable and happy partnership, progressing at a pace that is both achievable and sustainable.
Confidence, enjoyment and good foundations come first — progression follows.
